This project consists of a two story, 35,600 square foot addition to the existing Idaho Historical Museum in Boise. The design includes greatly expanded exhibit space including space for major traveling exhibits, enlarged lobby and retail area, and a 310 seat lecture hall / auditorium.
Interior remodeling and additional program spaces will provide enhanced opportunities for learning by one of the museum’s primary client groups; school children. Improved office and support spaces are also a significant part of the project.
Robert Peters Engineering provided the structural design for the addition and the structural modifications to the existing building. Coordination between LKV Architects and Robert Peters Engineering occurred continually to discuss all possible structural design solutions for the most appropriate final building structural design.
