Whittier Elementary School

Location: Boise, Idaho
Owner: Boise Independent School District No. 1
Completion Date: December 2018
Construction Cost: $13.5 Million

This 68,000 square foot, two-story elementary school was designed to replace an existing 1950’s elementary building on the same site. It is the first two-story elementary school to be built by the Boise School District in several decades. The building’s design and exterior materials and colors are intended to complement the existing Whittier Elementary building, a portion of which is being retained for use as a City-run community center. The structural steel and clay brick building features 26 pre-K through 6th-grade classrooms, music room, resource and extended resource rooms, large library, gymnasium with regulation size court, and cafeteria with full kitchen. The facility includes two new off-street parking lots, separate bus and parent drop-off and pick-up loops, new site landscaping, and a new playground.
